6th Anniversary

Saturday was Brian and my 6th anniversary.  Brian's parents came up to watch the kids.  We had plans to go to Benjamin's T Ball game, head out to lunch, hang out with the fam for a bit, go to the Melting Pot for dinner, and top the night off with a play.  It didn't quite work out that way though.  Brian came down with what we think was food poisoning and spent all day Saturday in bed.  He tried at one point to tough it out and go out with me in the evening, but we came back after 5 minutes on the road when he started looking for something to throw up in.

He felt better on Sunday so we were still able to do our Melting Pot dinner.  We've tried to make eating there on our anniversary a tradition since that's where he proposed.  It was a nice time, but skipping a feeding for our night out ended up with me getting mastitis.  It was an anniversary filled with sickness, but I am nonetheless thankful these 6 years with my awesome husband.

I always try to include some pictures, so here are a few of the girls I took while we were playing outside on Saturday.

It looks like Heidi is being smushed, but Lacey is up on the pillow.  She does have a bit of a triumphant smile though.

A Day At The Zoo

Last Friday Brian took the day off so we took the opportunity to make a family trip to the zoo.  The weather was a bit dreary, but the rain held off and the crowds were small so it worked out well.  Sometimes it seems that these trips are as much work as they are fun, but overall the kids behaved.  There were no tantrums, injuries, or fights...in mommy terms that makes it a success!
Popcorn can be a lifesaver when the kids need something to keep them under control.  This tactic works well during trips to Target as well :)

It's possible that they enjoyed the statues of the animals more than the live animals.
We happened upon a peacock who decided to show off.  It's pretty amazing to see them in their full glory.

Poor Heidi spent most of the time in the carseat, but she hung in there.

T Ball

Benjamin has started his T Ball season.  He's not too bad at it, but I'm not sure it's the best sport for such a hyper kid.  His arm is pretty good (we've been working on stepping with the throw) and he hits well.  His fielding is decent too when he's paying attention.  It's fairly non-competitive at this age.  Every play is to first, each kid runs one base automatically and there are no outs.  There tends to be a free-for-all to get the ball, so there is quite a bit of madness with each hit and even some tears.  I'm trying to work with Benjamin to only go after the ball if it comes to him and to let his teammate have it if they get there first.  It's a work in progress.  For now I think it is a bit boring for him, but he may like it more when it becomes a bit more competitive.

Standing ready at first base.

Running home.
A big frenzy to get the ball.

One of his many moments of distraction.

Baby Cuddles

The kids still like their cuddles with Heidi. Now that she can smile it's even more fun to see the bigger kids interacting with her.

Lacey's Birthday

We celebrated Lacey's 2nd birthday this weekend.  We decided to do a joint celebration this year with cousins Raven and Liam at the Molvar's house.  It went really well and I was very thankful that I didn't need to do much since we got back from Chelan the day before the party.  Her actual birthday was on Sunday so we took her out for a funny face pancake at IHOP before church with Grandma Ginny.  We picked her up a tricycle and then went for ice cream after dinner.  Overall it was a very sugar filled birthday.  She whined quite a bit, but I think she still had fun.

She wore the party hat just long enough to get a pic

What's a birthday without a mouth full of cake

She only made it half way through

Mmmm, more sugar!!!

Lake Chelan!

We just got back from our weeklong vacation in Lake Chelan. This year we went with Grandma and Grandpa Jorgenson and we all had a great time! The weather was perfect for the kids (mid to high 70s) and we got in a lot of swimming, fishing, hiking, golfing, shopping, wine tasting, and eating. With the grandparents being there to help with the kids we were even able to squeeze in some much needed relaxing.

We were a little concerned that Heidi would have a difficult time since she's so young and had been struggling with the acid reflux. Thankfully we got her medicine increased right before we left and she handled the vacation really well. We were all a little sleep deprived with Benjamin and Lacey waking up at 6 every morning and Heidi going back to needing a 5am feeding, but it was still a good time. Brian and I are thinking about making this a yearly tradition since we enjoy Chelan and the timeshare there so much. Below are some of the more memorable photos from the trip.
