Our little boy is getting big

It's hard to believe, but Benjamin is now 5 years old. His birthday was on the 6th. We started the day with a fancy breakfast of eggs and waffles with strawberries and cream. Then we went outside and put together his new playhouse from Grandma and pa Jorgenson. He and Lacey spent the rest of the morning outside playing.

Benjamin got to choose what to do for lunch, and he decided that he would like to meet Auntie Corrin and the cousins at McDonalds. He enjoyed a Happy Meal, playing in the PlayPlace with Liam and Esther, and making a mess with an ice cream
They obviously played hard cause he took a good nap after we got home. That night Brian took him out to see a movie. They were planning on seeing Toy Story 3, but it was messed up so they saw Despicable Me instead. Both had a good time.

The next day we had a fun joint party planned with his cousin Jacob at Silver Lake Beach. The park has a large swim area and the biggest play structure I've ever seen. Too bad it was one of the coldest summer days possible. It was maybe 60 degrees, windy and even a little rainy. We made the best of it though.
This was as close to swimming as the kids got.

Silly Lacey playing with Auntie Becki's sunglasses...they were not needed since the sun refused to show itself.

This was the first time I didn't make a cake for one of the kids' birthdays. I felt a little guilty, but Benjamin could care less. He liked the Transformer cake just fine.

No one was quite prepared for the cold. Heidi needed some extra snuggles from Auntie Corrin while the kids played.

Uncle Jeff was nice enough to help all the boys go across the monkey bars.

When we couldn't stand the cold anymore, it was back home to play with the new toys. Here Benjamin is playing with his Leapster. We quickly realized that time limits needed to be set on this one, otherwise he would play all day.

He requested this one all on his own. We were proud of his educational gift choice. He loves asking about all the countries and continents. Overall it was a fun birthday weekend.
